Multi-Production Strategy for Concrete Brick Machines: Quick Brick Switching Methods

August 05, 2026

In the building materials market where "small batches, multiple varieties" are the norm, a brick machine that can only produce a single product is like a "lame duck," unable to cope with order fluctuations. True competitiveness lies in the ability to quickly switch between standard bricks, hollow bricks, and permeable bricks. "Mold changeover time" directly determines the flexibility and profit margin of the production line. Achieving rapid switching requires coordinated efforts in three dimensions: quick mold changeover, parameter preset, and material distribution adjustment.

I. Quick Mold Changeover: From "Manual Labor" to "Technical Skill"

Mold changeover is the core step in switching product types and often takes the longest time. Traditional manual mold changeover is time-consuming and labor-intensive, while modern brick machines often use combined molds and auxiliary devices to speed up the process.

The key lies in "standardized operating procedures and effective use of auxiliary equipment". Taking a common type of mold with separate upper and lower molds as an example, the "lower mold positioning method" is recommended: First, install the new lower mold in place and tighten the bolts. Then, place the upper mold into the lower mold box, lower the upper hydraulic cylinder above the mold, fix the upper mold bolts, and raise it. This method effectively avoids the common problem of misalignment between the upper and lower molds. For heavy-duty molds, auxiliary devices such as **mold changing carts** should be provided. Through the lifting mold frame and chain drive, the mold can be moved smoothly in and out, significantly reducing labor intensity and downtime.

II. Parameter Presetting: Using the "Recipe" Instead of Temporary Parameter Adjustment

After the mold is installed, adjusting the equipment parameters is another time-consuming step. Different brick types have drastically different requirements for vibration frequency, pressure, and holding time: standard bricks require high density, hollow bricks need to avoid damage to the mold core, and permeable bricks emphasize a specific porosity.

Modern concrete brick making machines generally use PLC control systems and human-machine interfaces, the key being utilizing the system's "recipe" storage function. During initial debugging, operators can store nearly a hundred parameters, such as flow rate, pressure, and time, corresponding to a specific brick type into the system. These parameters can be directly retrieved for subsequent production runs, eliminating the need for individual adjustments by professionals. For example, permeable bricks or paving bricks with high surface layer requirements require precise control of the fabric and base material distribution parameters; consistency can be ensured through formula retrieval.

III. Fabric Distribution Adjustment: Adapting to Differences in Material Characteristics

The differences in aggregate particle size and proportions among standard bricks, hollow bricks, and permeable bricks necessitate a fabric distribution system with rapid adaptability. The key lies in adjusting the fabric distribution device and scraping mechanism. When producing hollow bricks, it is crucial to ensure that the forced fabric distribution device can evenly deliver material into the mold cavity, avoiding gaps caused by mold core obstruction. When producing permeable bricks, attention must be paid to controlling the fabric thickness and scraping height to ensure a stable permeability coefficient. Adjusting the gap between the fabric distribution box and the mold frame plane using the position lifting adjustment device effectively prevents material leakage and ensures uniform fabric distribution.

Conclusion

In the multi-variety production of concrete brick machines, rapid changeover is a crucial technology requiring a combination of techniques. It's not just about changing a set of molds; it's a systematic project encompassing standardized mold-changing processes, intelligent parameter management, and flexible material placement adjustments. Mastering these three "keys" allows your brick machine to effortlessly handle standard bricks, hollow bricks, and permeable bricks, truly achieving "one machine, multiple functions," and bringing higher order response speeds and equipment utilization rates to your factory.
